The plan for ROWE's future

A contribution from Stefan Wermter, Managing Director ROWE

ROWE has grown up with lubricants and coolants for automobiles. In the future, ROWE will position itself more broadly - and become even stronger. I will be fully committed to this as Managing Director of ROWE from 2024. Dr Alexandra Kohlmann and I will work together to implement a plan for the future of ROWE.

A changing world

Our world is changing. The challenges of climate change require a rethink in many areas. At the same time, new technologies are opening up ever new opportunities. This change will also transform industry in Germany, Europe and many parts of the world - and with it ROWE. I have now been working for the company since 2002. During this time, I have witnessed and helped shape how ROWE has developed into one of the strongest and most innovative manufacturers of lubricants and coolants. This is also thanks to the foresight of our company founder Michael Zehe, who always recognized change processes and trends at an early stage and made the right decisions for the company as a result.

Identifying opportunities - and seizing them

When I take on responsibility as Managing Director of ROWE next year, that's exactly what I want to model myself on: Recognizing future opportunities and actively exploiting them. Many see the changes facing industry and mobility as a threat to existing business models. I, on the other hand, see above all great opportunities that can make ROWE even stronger. Our future plan for ROWE is based on four key areas.

1. More sustainable products

The imperative for sustainability, environmental and climate protection is not a short-term trend. It is a commitment for the future. At ROWE, we are already working on both sustainable alternatives to previous conventional products and even more environmentally friendly production processes. We will expand this significantly in the future. Being able to offer sustainable products will give ROWE a significant competitive advantage in many areas. This is therefore one of the most important focal points for a strong future for ROWE.

2. Expand growth area of industry and energy

Our DNA lies in the automotive industry. But the expertise and experience we have built up there with lubricants and coolants are also in demand in industrial applications of all kinds. We already work with various partners and customers in industry, offering products for industrial plants and machinery. We will expand this area with all our might - and in addition to industry, we will also focus on power generation. This is a global growth area for us, where we can make a real contribution to greater progress with our highly specialized and individual solutions.

3. Using alternative drives of the future

I admit: Personally, I'm still fascinated by the mechanics and power of a combustion engine. That's why I love our own GT3 race cars from ROWE RACING. But in the long term, the future also belongs to alternative drives and fuels. Here, too, we need to further minimize friction and optimize thermal management. That's why we at ROWE already offer special lubricants for electric cars. But this is just the beginning. The future of ROWE continues to lie in automobiles and in mobility - regardless of the drive system. Because we are researching and developing with all our know-how to make our contribution to the mobility revolution. The third focus area therefore includes offerings for all alternative drives of the future.

4. Future competence thermal management

Whether in industry, power generation or mobility - the topic of thermal management is becoming increasingly important. That is why I would like to emphasize this once again. Unlike many lubricant manufacturers, we have for years been building up our own development and production of coolants and their additives in addition to our high level of lubricant expertise. We have acquired enormous knowledge and experience in this area. We will use this head start to offer highly specialized and individual solutions wherever efficient thermal management is required.

My passion for the industry

I have now been with ROWE for over 20 years. I started in 2002 as a customer service representative in internal sales and then worked my way up through various positions in the company to management responsibility. Not least due to the close cooperation with Michael Zehe, I got to know the industry intensively. I will now use this experience as Managing Director. This is an old dream come true for me. My father was already active in lubricant sales and often took me to the office with him from an early age. It was always clear to me what field I would like to work in one day. The fact that I can now do this as Managing Director of such a strong and innovative company as ROWE fills me with great pride. I look forward to leading ROWE to new heights of performance together with Dr. Alexandra Kohlmann.

Progress needs movement!

We at ROWE are convinced: Progress needs movement. We want to actively shape the future, make progress possible and become even stronger in the process. As Managing Director, I will implement this plan for the future with all my strength.
